Philosophy
Preservation. Your data and your music outlive everything else:
- Streamed content is cached and playable offline, nothing is fetched twice for no reason.
- The cache priority system protects what matters when cleaning up, and VIP items are never auto deleted. Private and deleted YouTube videos become VIP automatically.
- Sync between devices only adds, it never wipes the other device’s data.
- Listens can’t be deleted, only replaced, your history stays truthful.
- Destructive actions like deleting files are tucked away behind the advanced dialog, and deleted paths are saved to a file in app data folder.
The original experience is cherished. Content is presented the way it was made:
- Video integration for local music, the song comes with its video, not just a static artwork.
- The progress bar in the YouTube player sits under the video, not inside it, nothing covers the content.
- There is no way to stretch or zoom the video out of its real aspect ratio.
Music should be listened to only when you feel like it. Namida is against endless queues. Music is a powerful tool that can hijack your brain and take control, and a human should always be in control. There is so much potential in a human, too much of it gets thrown away to entertainment, and music is one of them. Don’t let it consume you, listen to things you enjoy, and only when you really want to.
